Our Story

When the U.S. economy went into recession in 2007, Springboro Schools staff noticed families struggling. At first, staff – including Mental Health Coordinator Wendy Ford and Superintendent Dr. David Baker – would shop, cook and deliver. The need continued to grow and the Springboro Community Assistance Center was born.

The SCAC was originally housed at Clearcreek Elementary School before expanding to the former Jonathan Wright Elementary School on Florence Drive. In 2016, SCAC expanded again and relocated to the current facility the Educare Building next to Springboro Junior High School.

SCAC partners with Shared Harvest to provide backpacks of nutritious food for students on free and reduced lunch. Some of our other community partners include the City of Springboro, Clearcreek Township, Springboro Police Department, Clearcreek Fire Department, Springboro United Church of Christ, Covenant Presbyterian Church, Real Life Church, City Hope Church, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and Synergy Chiropractic Care.
