Many laborers across the spiritual community of Springboro are working to harvest inventory for the Springboro Community Assistance Center this year.
Thanks to the efforts of the Springboro Pastors Association, every month in 2021 a different church will host a food drive benefitting SCAC.
“The churches in the Springboro Pastors Association have committed to ensuring no family or child in Springboro will go hungry,” said Rev. Jed Dearing, whose congregation at St. Francis Episcopal Church kicked off the effort in January.
St. Francis’ drive brought in an astonishing mountain of donations. On the first weekend of February, Southwest Church held a Super Bowl themed drive where donors voted for a Kansas City win while contributing to SCAC. Although Tampa Bay won the game, the church made a more important impact.
“We hopefully won by helping the SCAC have more resources to share with others,” said Pastor Roger Hendricks.
Springboro United Church of Christ will collect items on March 6 and 7. A complete list of involved churches can be found at www.springborocommunityassistance.org along with an up to date list of needed items.
“Our community has been amazing over the last 14 years but especially during the last year when our need increased dramatically,” said Executive Director Wendy Ford. “Our churches have always been at the forefront of efforts to keep our shelves stocked and we couldn’t be more grateful for their efforts this year.”
